Types of Amulets and Talismans in Kabbalah
Amulets and talismans are often used interchangeably but in reality are two contrasting and distinct terms. An amulet is a jewelry type piece of adornment worn and used to ward off evil, danger, and disease or to garner good fortune. A talisman is an object with writings or markings that is worn, carried, or used to bring about miraculous powers which are in turn used by the owner of the object. It is important to know that an amulet can also include symbols and characters but it is generally a metal adornment. Followers of Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism) use both amulets and talismans for good luck, protection, prosperity, health, self revelation, and other conditions that affect them on a daily basis. Talismans are generally written on parchment and can be personalized, charged, and written especially for the individual. Amulets can be written on parchment like a talisman or can be written on metal pieces like charms which are ornamental and worn like jewelry around the neck similar to a necklace. - Scroll of King Solomon Signatories for Eternity: This scroll is one of the oldest talismans known. It is believed to benefit its user in a multitude of ways such as protection from evil eye and black magic, good and stable health, harmonious familial relationships, successful business relationships, wealth, overcoming sadness with happiness in all your affairs, and most importantly balance between your body and soul.
Red Bracelet: The red string bracelet is a protectorate from the evil eye. The evil eye is a look given to another that can cause a myriad of problems if not handled immediately and consistently, hence the bracelet is worn daily. The red bracelet is good for deterring negative energies from all directions. The bracelet is not necessarily always made with string, it can be made with other fibers but the bracelet is usually worn on the left because it is worn on the side where the heart is located. The bracelet may or may not have a charm attached. The red string bracelet has been used throughout the ages and continues to this day.
Tree of Life: The Tree of Life talisman is believed to attract positive energies which come from the people who surround its wearer. The Tree of Life seal is acts as a magnet and draws the positive energies out of people.
Healing Cup: The Healing Cup consists of scared symbols and scripts. The cup was deigned to help people feel better about themselves and attract a balance in their life. The cup is believed to promote good health and overall well-being The rabbi's goal was to help people get in touch with their souls and understand their existence in this universe.
- Black Magic: A black magic talisman is needed when a person is aware that a spell has been cast upon him. Spells can be cast intentionally and non- intentionally. Practitioners of black magic can intentionally cast spells for people against other people and spells can be unintentionally cast through emotions such as jealousy, wishing harm upon another, and cursing another.
